Brandeis responds to events in Charlottesville

We are all experiencing revulsion and outrage over the violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the past weekend. The racism, white nationalism, neo-Nazism, and anti-Semitism fueling the violence that killed one woman and left many people injured are a direct affront to what our country stands for and the values upon which Brandeis was founded. We are reminded, once again, that we must remain steadfast in rejecting bigotry, intolerance, and violence, and in embracing and protecting those in our community who may find themselves the target of such hatred.

In times like these, it can be powerful to come together and be in one another’s presence. For those members of our community who wish to gather to express concern and engage in fellowship, the Intercultural Center will hold an open gathering tomorrow:

Tuesday, August 15, 2017
4 to 6 p.m.
Intercultural Center

The academic year has not yet begun and many members of our community have not yet returned to campus, so we urge you to reach out to one another. We can help to heal our world by countering hateful actions with acts of love, kindness, and compassion.

Sincerely,
