Brandeis welcomed U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark, a Democrat  representing Massachusetts’ 5th Congressional district, which includes Waltham, to campus on Friday, May 5 for a series of meetings and events.  In meetings with President Ron Liebowitz  and a group of Brandeis research faculty, discussions with Clark included Brandeis’s deep commitment to community involvement; mutual concerns about budget cuts to the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and other federal agencies that fund research, and student engagement in policy making.  While on campus, Clark was also interviewed on Facebook live by Florence Graves, founding director of Brandeis' Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism.  Clark is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
