The Brandeis Judges men’s soccer team is off to the Final Four of the NCAA Division III national soccer tournament after beating defending national champions Tufts University 1-0 on Nov. 19.

Patrick Flahive ’18 netted the game-winning goal deep in the second overtime period, his shot from 30 yards finding the back of the net to send the Judges to the semifinals for the second consecutive year and fifth time in team history.

Judges goalkeeper Ben Woodhouse ’19 also turned in a hero’s performance against the Jumbos. Though his team was out-shot 17-12, Woodhouse made seven saves, including six in the second half, and secured his 32nd career shutout.

Brandeis will take on national powerhouse Messiah College on Dec. 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina, which will be the first-ever meeting between the Judges and the Falcons.

The Judges, who won a national title in 1976, are now just two wins away from repeating the feat for the second time.
