WATCH: Community gathers for annual "Messiah Sing"

A pre-finals tradition, the Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra and the Brandeis University Chorus lead members of the community in singing Handel's jubilant classic

Descriptive transcript

In a beloved annual tradition, the Brandeis community gathers on the eve of finals in the Shapiro Campus Center to sing a selection from Handel's Messiah. Each year, Robert Duff, Associate Professor of the Practice of Music and Choral Conductor, conducts the Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra and the Brandeis Chamber Singers and University Chorus as they lead the singing. Professor of the practice of music Neal Hampton prepared the musicians as they rehearsed ahead of the performance, and soloists included senior academic administrator in the Department of Music Mark Kagan, tenor; vocal instructor Kristen Watson, soprano; and guest Emily Marvosh, alto.
