The Rose Art Museum at Brandeis is now open to the university community, featuring an exhibition of works from artist Dora García and some of the most recent acquisitions from the museum's collection.

The museum re-opened on Sept. 30, but only to Brandeis students, faculty and staff in entry time slots that require pre-registration. At this time, the Rose - and the Brandeis campus - is not open to outside visitors.

Along with limiting access to the university community, the museum has implemented a robust cleaning schedule and established designated pathways in the galleries as health safety measures. As with other indoor spaces on campus, museum patrons must wear masks and practice social distancing.

The museum features two exhibitions:

"Love with Obstacles" is Spanish artist Dora García's first solo exhibition in the United States. It focuses on her work of recent years to open new platforms of analysis, reflection, and visibility. Through a practice that prioritizes the use of performance in a participative manner, García transforms the Lois Foster Gallery into a living platform to investigate the relationship between audience, architecture, and artistic work.

"Yesterday's Tomorrow" features works from the Rose's collection from 1933 to 2018. More than half of the works on view are new gifts and recent acquisitions that have never before been exhibited within a Rose exhibition, including artworks by Nicole Eisenman, Joy Episalla, Ulrich Horndash, Ellen Lesperance, Patti Smith, William Villalongo, and Jack Whitten.

The museum is also hosting a series of virtual programs this fall, including:
