University partners with Zipcar

Sep. 12, 2008

Beginning Monday, September 15, Brandeis will provide a car-sharing service through Zipcar. Two self-service Zipcars -- a Toyota Matrix and a Honda CR-V -- are available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cars are located at the Stoneman Public Safety/Campus Police Building parking lot.

Beginning Friday, September 12, university faculty, staff, and students aged 18+ interested in using the cars can begin the process by purchasing a membership at www.zipcar.com/brandeis. Zipcar will review your application, and if approved, send you a membership card in 3-7 days. In order to reserve the cars, you must have this card. Brandeis faculty, staff, and students can join with their Brandeis e-mail address for $35 and gain access to Brandeis’s Zipcars starting at $8.25 per hour or $65 per day. The costs for gas, maintenance, insurance and reserved parking are included in the hourly and daily rates.

Brandeis is working to promote sustainable transportation options and reduce single car trips on campus. More information about current transportation options at Brandeis can be found on the new Campus Sustainability Initiative Web site. Please direct any Zipcar customer service questions to 1-866-4ZIPCAR or review their Web site, www.zipcar.com/brandeis. If you have questions about sustainability initiatives on the Brandeis campus, please contact Sustainability Coordinator Janna Cohen-Rosenthal at jannacr@brandeis.edu.
