Meet the 2014 CORE Committee
Trevor Tuplin ‘16
My name is Trevor Tuplin and I am a sophomore at Brandeis. I am an Economics major with a minor in Mathematics and Business. I am from a town not too far away from Brandeis called Weymouth. When I am not planning 2014 New Student Orientation, I can be found running laps in the Gosman Athletic Center as a member of the Men’s Track and Field Team, planning my trip to Honduras with Global Brigades, or studying away in the depths of the library. I am excited to plan an Orientation that will introduce you to the beauties of Brandeis and I look forward to meeting you all in August! Prepare yourselves for an experience that will open the doors to your next four years at Brandeis!
Jane Berry ‘16
My name is Jane and I am a sophomore majoring in International and Global Studies with a minor in Economics, but my biggest aspiration is to travel the world. Hailing from just outside of Chicago, I love to try new things, whether it’s food, fun, a club or just a new place to travel (or live #foundahomeatBrandeis). I am currently an avid stargazer in astronomy club, creative molder in pottery club, referred to as Brooks as a member of Brandeis Women’s Ultimate Team, Banshee, and is in charge of public relations for Up the Octave (Brandeis' premiere all-female a cappella group). When I am not participating in various clubs or studying (on what I think is my couch across from Starbucks) in the library, you can find me up-cycling clothes from the local thrift store, checking out new bands, or hiking to the reservoir. I am exceptionally excited to meet the class of 2018 and give you the Orientation of a lifetime!
Genesis Leon ‘16
My name is Genesis Leon and I am a sophomore here at Brandeis. I am a Health: Science, Society, and Policy major and a Hispanic Studies minor. I am a proud native of Brooklyn, New York. I am on the pre-med track, and one day I hope to become a neonatologist (a doctor for newborn babies) as well as a full-time wedding planner. On campus, I participate as a Posse Scholar, a member of Colleges Against Cancer, and as a Special Events and Fundraising Co-Chair on Relay For Life. You will always find me with a cup of coffee in hand, (Dunkin Donuts Iced Hazelnut Latte with skim milk and one Splenda, please) but I like to tell myself I’m not addicted. To me, music is the ultimate stress reliever, and I especially love John Mayer and Maroon 5. I am thrilled to be a member of the 2014 Core Committee, and I hope that through Orientation, you will feel as welcomed to your new home as I did when I first arrived on campus!
Ellie Rosenthal ‘16
My name is Ellie and I am double majoring in Psychology and Near Eastern Judaic Studies and I love Brandeis Orientation! I am from the Bay Area, California and, though I tried to deny my environmentalist roots whilst living in California, Brandeis has brought out my activist side in relations to the environment. I can often be found recycling and researching ways to shrink my carbon footprint. When I am not planning orientation, I work as co-chair of Special Events and Fundraising for Relay For Life at Brandeis along with Genesis Leon, another Core member. I am the Shabbat and Festival Meals Coordinator for Hillel at Brandeis, as well as a third grade Judaic studies teacher at the Boston-area Jewish Education Project. Though free time scares me a little bit, I do enjoy reading memoirs, listening to country music, following the San Francisco Giants, and drinking copious amounts of tea. I am so excited to be working on Orientation 2014 with my amazing fellow Core members and I look forward to meeting you soon!
Brendan Weintraub ‘16
My name is Brendan Weintraub, and I am one of the 2014 Orientation Core Committee members! I am a sophomore here at Brandeis, and a Health: Science, Society and Policy major, and an International and Global Studies and Hispanic Studies double minor. I am a proud New Yorker (okay, Long Islander) and you can definitely tell by my fast paced walking and the way I say "water." When I am not planning orientation, I am a tour guide at Admissions, planning awesome activities with Student Events, or dancing up a storm with the hip hop dance crew Kaos Kids. On top of those, I have dabbled in community service through the Waltham Group and tutored English to facility workers through the English Language Learner Initiative. I absolutely cannot wait for Orientation so I have the chance to meet each and every one of you. If you have any questions about anything to do with Brandeis, or me do not be afraid to contact me or another member of Core. Get ready for an absolutely unforgettable orientation, because, let me tell you, it will be.
