Orientation CORE Committee

Profile

Hello all! I’m Zach Cihlar, and I am very happy to be part of the fall 2017 Orientation Core Committee! Born in Bettendorf, Iowa and raised in Phoenix, Arizona (with a couple stops in between), I’ve resided in quite the collection of states; nonetheless, I’ve found my newest home here in Waltham, MA at Brandeis.

I am a self-proclaimed nerd and zealous bibliophile, with academic interests in a wide variety of topics. I am currently a declared Economics major, but if I had the option, I’d major in (literally) everything. Besides being apart of orientation, my favorite thing I do at Brandeis is writing for the Features section of the Brandeis Hoot, one of our campus newspapers. As a Features writer, I get to meet so many different kinds of students, faculty, and administrators who make this school so great. I have also enthusiastically assumed the role of Sports editor for the Hoot this year. A passionate fan and participant of Brandeis athletics, you can frequently find me at Gosman Athletic Center practicing with my fellow teammates on the varsity tennis team. I also enjoy giving tours through undergraduate admissions, hanging out with friends, eating burritos, wearing sweatpants and sometimes sleeping!

A few of my favorite things include the color green, TV political thrillers, Dickens novels, warm weather, and Barack Obama’s presidency. I live by the philosophy that every new experience, whether discomforting or familiar, is a learning experience meant to mold me into a better person than the day before, which is why I am thrilled to be a Core Committee member!
