A Single Website to Find and Apply for Federal Grants

Grant seekers can now easily access information on, and apply for, thousands of Federal grants through one secure internet source managed by the Federal government. 100% of grant opportunities offered by all 26 Federal grant-making agencies and many Federal commissions are now available through www.grants.gov.

Grants.gov enables grant-making agencies and the grant community to come together to make grants management easier and more efficient for everyone. State, local and tribal governments, colleges and universities, research institutions, non-profits and other organizations will now have the ability to find $400 billion in annual grants from over 1000 different grant programs at one online location.

The search capabilities that are built into the site make finding grants faster and researching grants more efficient. By subscribing to the email update service, when new grants matching your specified interests are posted, email notifications are sent to the subscriber, including the title, the agency name and a link which can take them right to the grant. These features make keeping on top of newly available grants of interest to grant applicant organizations a matter of minutes a day.

The Grants.gov application process eliminates the need to learn and comply with multiple agency-specific system requirements. One registration is all that is needed to apply to all Federal grant opportunities. Additionally, electronic applications that can be downloaded to any computer, online user support tools and personalized assistance from a dedicated Customer Support team, all come together, making it easier to apply for grants.

Addtional information about the transition from PureEdge forms to Adobe forms is available as a FAQ from grants.gov.

An animated guide to using the Adobe forms is available from grants.gov.

Useful Links - For Macintosh Users

Grants.gov has made available a version of the IBM Forms Viewer software (formerly known as PureEdge) for the Macintosh OS. The software requires a Macintosh to be running OS 10.4.6 or higher. Additionally, the software won't run on Intel Macs, and doesn't support screen readers for visually impaired users. There may also be issues with large application files (40MB and greater).

Brandeis University does have a site license which allows Macintosh users to upgrade to the most current version of OSX. Users need to contact LTS and arrange to have the OS upgrades installed before installing the IBM Forms Viewer software. Note that the Forms Viewer software now comes in two "flavors": one for Intel-based Macs and one for PowerPC (PPC) - based Macs.

Grants.gov continues to support a Citrix solution for non-Windows users (including Macintosh users). UW Madison has created a downloadable package that installs the necessary software and configurations to use the Citrix server at NIH when completing a grants.gov application package.
