Chamber Music

Two students practice the violin

The chamber music program at BIMA is a complete and intense study of repertoire, performance and musicianship. Each ensemble will focus on the nuances of ensemble playing, creating a unified sound as well as other skills required to play quality chamber music. There are numerous performance, recording, composition and improvisatory opportunities available to each participant, as all the great masters were also great improvisers!

Applicants should be well versed in major and minor scales & arpeggios, reading their primary clef, and studying at a concerto level (or comparable). No prior chamber ensemble experience required, just an open mind and willingness to experiment.

Veteran BIMA music faculty and cellist Jessie Reagen Mann has toured the world with her instrument and performed in a multitude of scenarios with amazing musicians, from Michael Tilson Thomas and Philip Glass to Adele and Jay-Z. She believes in chamber music in the broadest sense and loves the opportunity to work with open minded and curious students ready to learn something new. Read more about Jessie.
