Why Attend the Young Leaders Conference on Israel Studies?

“Rhetoric about Israel on college campuses has become increasingly strident with BDS, anti-Apartheid walls, and “die-ins” substituting for serious discourse. Despite large-scale efforts by the Jewish community to strengthen identification with Israel among Jewish students, many wish to avoid the rancor of these events and choose to walk away. Others feel they lack the knowledge to engage effectively in debates.”

—Annette Koren, Leonard Saxe, Shira Fishman. “What Do Jewish College Students Really Know about Israel?” EJewishPhilanthropy,  3 Nov. 2015.

The Young Leaders Conference on Israel Studies offers outstanding students a sophisticated understanding of Israel in the context of the Middle East, preparing you for the next steps in your educational journey. Elite high school students deserve transformative experiences, experiences that expose you to prestigious speakers and institutions and inspire you to make a difference in the world. Ultimately, the goal of the program creates an unrivaled network of the talent to help fulfill the mission of “Tikkun Olam,” to heal and repair the world.

As yet, there are no opportunities for outstanding high school students to receive college level instruction in Israel Studies at the highest academic level. Through the Young Leaders Conference on Israel Studies, Brandeis staff and faculty brings together some of the most achievement-oriented Jewish high school students from around the world for an intellectually rigorous program that equips you with the skills, knowledge and motivation to engage in nuanced discussions and debates surrounding Israel on your path to future leadership in the Jewish community and our nation.
