Holiday Schedule and President's Discretionary Days
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to members of the Brandeis community for the great commitment you have shown to the university. I appreciate all your contributions. As we approach the holiday season, it is important that we have an opportunity to rest, relax and gather with family and friends.
Therefore, I have approved four (4) President’s Discretionary Days off during the December holiday period to allow additional time for those activities.
Both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays, so the holidays will be celebrated on the following Mondays. The four (4) Discretionary Days will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 through Friday, December 30, 2011.
Additionally, as there are no scheduled classes on the day before Thanksgiving, I have approved a President’s Discretionary Day on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, for all faculty and staff.
As in the past, departments that must remain open will inform any staff members who are required to work all or some of the holiday schedule. These staff members are entitled to schedule other days off to make up for the holidays they are required to work.
I wish the entire Brandeis community a healthy, happy holiday season.
Best regards,
Fred
