Storm update and free pizza
Oct. 29, 2012
Brandeis Students, Faculty and Staff:
I am writing to give you an update about Hurricane Sandy and its impact on our campus. Although we still do not know the full impact of the hurricane, forecasters are calling for light rain and moderate winds for later tonight and tomorrow.
Dining halls will be open regular hours and the library will be open until 8 p.m. I've arranged for free pizza and soft drinks for all students at the Stein, which will be open from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
At this point we anticipate that the university will be open and that classes will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday. If for any reason that should change we will email you later this evening. Crystal bus is providing on-campus transports; students may also call the Escort Safety Service at 781-736-4999. Transportation will be available until 2 a.m. The information booth at the front of campus will be staffed until 2 a.m.
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of colleagues who worked since late yesterday to complete our storm preparations. Our staff will be working overnight tonight to resolve the minor issues that arose during the storm. Please call Public Safety at 781-736-3333 if you have any problems that require immediate attention.
The safety of our community is our highest priority. Please be careful when you are out and about this evening.
Warm regards,
Fred
