Nadia Hemady
Nadia Hemady graduated from Brandeis in 2005 with a double-major in history and East Asian studies. She went on to study abroad for a year in Japan at the Kyoto Center for Japanese Studies before returning to Brandeis as a cultural production student.
Hemady's studies up to this point have focused on Japanese popular culture in its diverse and interconnected forms. Although her interests originated in animation and comic-book culture, it has extended to include music, fashion and food. She is particularly interested in representations of gender, sexuality and foreign countries and cultures (such as the West) in popular Japanese media.
