Delet at Brandeis has graduated nine cohorts of fellows since 2001. Our alumni have become inspired educators and active teacher-leaders in Jewish day schools throughout the United States and Canada, making an impact on Jewish education that is disproportionate to their numbers. Since the creation of Delet our alumni have gone on to teach in more than 40 different schools, in 11 states across the country, and representing all dominations. Visit our national Delet alumni network to see what our alumni are doing across the country and gain access to varied resources and opportunities.
As part of a broader approach to teacher preparation, Delet views itself as a three pronged continuum, responsible for quality teacher preparation, new teacher induction and support, and continuing professional development. This view provides outstanding opportunities for alumni to have an ongoing relationship with Delet. See some of the opportunities we provide below:
Teacher's Summer Institute
The Teacher's Summer Institute welcomes local alumni for a week-long session to begin work on individual projects. Alumni and support each other as they work on projects related to teacher development that will continue on throughout the academic year. For more information on the Summer Institute>>

Alumni Professional Learning Community
Cindy Shulak-Rome, a Delet Field Instructor, serves as our local Delet Alumni Coordinator. Alumni in the Boston metropolitan area are invited to participate in monthly dinner meetings where we gather to study aspects of teaching practice. For the schedule of upcoming meetings, please see the calendar.
New Teacher Network (NaTaN)
The New Teacher Network is a monthly professional development opportunity for first and second year teachers in grades K-8. In our work training teachers through the Delet program, we recognize that however well prepared, novice teachers need continued support and opportunities to develop and refine skills. With that goal in mind we offer this professional development opportunity to supplement the mentoring and induction support we know many schools are offering their teachers. The primary goal of the New Teacher Network is to nurture new teachers in Jewish day schools during their challenging and exciting first years of teaching and to provide tools to help them develop their professional practice. Through the Network, we hope to encourage the development of a community of teacher-leaders across Jewish day schools in the Greater Boston area. The Network also provides an opportunity for experienced teachers to share their expertise and continue their own professional development.
The New Teacher Network is open to all first and second year teachers in area Jewish day schools. (Teachers do not need to be Delet alumni to participate.) The group will meet monthly at Brandeis for a kosher dinner and lively discussion. See the calendar for the most up to date times and locations.
