Why DeLeT?
DeLeT is uniquely situated as a joint endeavor of the Brandeis Education department and of the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education. As the Jewish day school concentration of the Brandeis MAT program, DeLeT is able to offer a Master of Arts in Teaching and initial licensure and access to a diverse faculty and curriculum that shares Brandeis’ commitment to social justice. Also being part of the Mandel Center offers a large number of benefits to DeLeT students, including instruction from preeminent scholars of Jewish education, a curriculum that benefits from constant and innovative research, a connection with a network of day schools across the country, and continued support for graduates in the field.
Admission is limited to 10-12 students per year. DeLeT students come from diverse professional, academic and personal backgrounds. The program is open to recent college graduates, career changers, hard-working, Jewishly motivated, and intellectually curious individuals who love children and are passionate about learning and teaching. All DeLeT students, upon being accepted into the program, will receive full tuition scholarship, a ten-thousand dollar stipend, and free health insurance.
