Alumni
- Manuel Rivera, '74, received the Harry S. Levitan Remedial Reading and Education Prize, one of the 2006 distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards presented at the Brandeis Reunion Reception on June 9. Dr. Rivera is superintendent of the Rochester, NY, City School District, and was named 2006 National Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators. A national panel of educators and business and government leaders selected Rivera for his creativity in meeting student needs, effective communication skills, active community involvement and for providing professional development opportunities and motivation to those on his education team. - The May 5, 2007, BOSTON SUNDAY GLOBE featured a winning essay on "The Meaning of Courage" by Heather Quigley, a 6th grade student of Brandeis alumna Nasrin Samadi '04 who teaches at the Patrick F. Gavin Middle School in Boston.
- Marianne Stabile, MAT '07, was featured in the Feb. 2 edition of The Framingham Tab. Marianne completed her intern teaching in the fourth grade classroom of Frances Ferranti at Northeast School in Waltham, and is currently teaching thrid grade at Rock Springs Elementary School outside of Atlanta. Marianne plans to travel to Ethiopia in summer 2008, where she will volunteer as a teacher of English. She details the plans for her project and welcomes support online.
- Ariel Bohn '07, Education Studies minor and Psychology major, was profiled for her work through Brandeis Experiential Learning Program with children at the Perkins School for the Blind where she interned in 2005.

James Bair '03 and James Rinaldi '02, were quoted in the April 20, 2006, Boston Globe article "Students get an A for skepticism." Bair and Rinaldi were faculty advisers to Newton South High School's Social Awareness Club which, along with teachers from the Social Justice Academy, a small Boston public school in the former Hyde Park High School, brought their students together to hear, and question, speakers with opposing views. Rinaldi continues to teach history at Newton South.
