CETE Teacher Leadership for Urban Schools
Goals:
Teacher Leadership for Urban Schools provides teachers in their 3-11 years of teaching with an opportunity to:
- explore the next stage of their career path,
- experiment with various forms of educational leadership (e.g. conducting action research, mentoring, sharing and collaborating with others within and outside of the school and district, moving into administrative positions, becoming an "entrepreneur")
- learn the skills needed to be an effective teacher leader, and
- develop a cohort within which to share knowledge and experience
Program:
The two year program consists of the following:
- Summer institute, July 31-August 5. 2011 (Swarthmore College)
- Summer institute, (4 days) summer 2012
- Two meetings during the 2011-2012 academic year
- Mentoring during the 2011-2012 academic year
- Online Community
Application Priorities
The Institute is designed for teachers who have completed at least two years of teaching. Priority will be given to teachers in the 3rd-11th year of their career. Because we believe that leadership is a collaborative practice, we invite applicant to invite a second teacher from their school or district to participate with them. The primary applicant must be a CETE alumna.
