Meet Teacher Education Students and Graduates

Teacher-education students and alumni bring diverse perspectives, prior experiences and a wealth of academic interests to their study of teaching; they go on to teach or influence education and children’s lives in other ways and in a variety of settings. Qualities they have in common include agility of mind, commitment to social justice and persistence. Meet a few of our current students and alumni here:

Daniel Braunfeld '03

Daniel Braunfeld (Secondary Teacher Education ’03) is teaching ninth and tenth grade history at the Facing History school in New York City. Previously, he taught for two years in Santa Monica, Calif., where he introduced the Facing History and Ourselves program to ninth graders. While at Brandeis, he did his student teaching in history at Charlestown High School in Boston. Daniel writes:

The Brandeis Education Program has left an indelible mark on my teaching career, and I am forever grateful. The Brandeis Ed program provided me with an unparalleled foundation in educational theory and experience, and it continues to encourage and support my professional growth. At its core, the Brandeis education program is dedicated to the notion that both teachers and their students are life-long learners and has created a system to support that development.
