Fall Internship: Waltham Energy Efficiency, Recycling, Hazardous Waste Management

As an intern in the Waltham Recycling Department you can gain insight on the workings of local government, as you help develop and promote environmental protection programs and safe waste management practices in the City. You'll see how local government works with committees, non-profits, state, and federal governments.  Interns will assist with Department operations and programs, conduct research, or write informational news articles for publication in the Waltham News Tribune. The Recycling Department oversees Recycling, Hazardous Waste Management, and Composting Programs.  The Department also serves as the liaison to the Waltham Energy Action Committee (WEAC), a Mayor-appointed Committee of environmental activists who advise the Mayor on issues of climate change particularly related to the reduction of energy use and energy costs in the City.  Among the projects for the fall of 2013 is a Community Outreach Campaign for the promotion of residential solar panels and home energy audits to Waltham residents.  Interns are also invited to attend WEAC evening meetings in order to work directly with the Energy Committee. Interns receive academic credit with ENVS89a.  If you wish to apply, please contact me:
