How does it work?

The Macromolecular Structure and Mechanism Training Pogram provides specialized education in a field that spans the boundaries of the scientific disciplines of biophysics, biochemistry, and structural biology. The program does not grant any academic degrees of its own. Rather, it leverages the strengths of the existing Biochemistry and Biophysics and Structural Biology Ph.D. programs at Brandeis by bringing graduate students from these programs into a curriculum that is designed to prepare students for advanced research in this field. Any student currently studying in one of the participating Ph.D. programs can apply to join the Macromolecular Structure and Mechanism Training Pogram. The program requires students to complete a core curriculum of four courses and can include additional advanced courses in structural biology experimental methhods. Students in the program also participate in research seminars and retreats designed to hone their scientific communication and other research skills.
