Commuter Rail

Picture of commuter train at Brandeis/Robert stationBrandeis University is conveniently located on the Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line and is directly accessible via the Brandeis/Roberts station. Trains depart regularly from North Station in downtown Boston (accessible via the Green and Orange lines) and make stops at Porter Square, Cambridge (accessible via the Red line) en route to Brandeis.

Tickets are $4.75 each way, $9.50 for a roundtrip. Please note that there is a surcharge for tickets purchased onboard if you board the train at a station with an automated ticketing machine, which includes both North Station and Porter Square.

Shuttles service between the Brandeis/Roberts station and the Levin Ballroom will be available for trains marked in bold on the schedule below.

Guests may also walk from the train station to the Levin Ballroom in the Usdan Student Center.  The walk takes approximately 10–15 minutes, and is mostly on a gradual incline.

Local taxi service is available. The Checker Cab of Waltham may be reached at 781-647-TAXI (8294). There is no taxi stand at the Brandeis/Roberts station, so pre-arranged service is recommended. Alternatively, there is well-serviced taxi stand at the Waltham commuter rail station, the stop before the Brandeis/Roberts station. It is a 5–10 minute drive to Brandeis from the Waltham station. Fares from the Waltham station should be reasonable.
