Muslim Sexual Ethics: Essays

Our section on Islam addresses key topics such as marriage contracts, divorce, veiling, lesbian and bisexual sexuality and identity, obedience, a wife's right to sexual pleasure in marriage, and other crucial subjects.

For each topic, we bring together specific religious texts (verses of the Qur'an and selections from the hadith), references to other sources, such as legal and exegetical writings; and interpretive commentary that serves as an introduction to the diversity of opinions on these subjects. We devote particular attention to progressive views.

We hope that this page will become a frequent stop for all Muslims and non-Muslims committed to ensuring Muslim women full dignity and participation in matters of faith, family, and society.
