Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why aren't there versions for other (e.g., Mac, Unix, Linux) OSs?  The program uses VIs from the IMAQ Vision package, which is only available for Windows.
  2. Why do I get an error message when I try to use the Matlab-dependent features (e.g. stacked TIFF reading and writing) of Glimpse? Are you using the right versions of LavVIEW and Matlab? Also, some versions of LabView need to be patched to work properly with Matlab R13 or R14.  The patch can be installed in two different directories; one is required for the .llb version of Glimpse and another is needed for the .exe version.
  3. Why do I get messages about missing VIs after I update one of the NI software packages to a new version?  If an upgraded version of LabView is installed, Vision and IMAQ most likely must be re-installed. Completely uninstall existing versions of Vision and IMAQ before running the installers for those applications.  In our experience, failing to do this almost always results in the image processing VIs not being properly linked to LabView.
  4. I get a message: “Executive Version (7.1.1) Doesn’t Match Resource File (7.1) – Check Your Configuration”.  See National Instruments’ own Knowledge Base article at this site and follow its instructions.

  5. I get an error when starting Glimpse as a non-Administrator user about CLSID\{<sequence of alphanumeric characters>}.  To solve this problem, give the user  Full Control access to the Matlab 7
    directory.
