What's happening
The Human Resources and Payroll implementation of the PeopleSoft software is in the home stretch. The implementation team is completing payroll parallel tests--tests comparing the old and new systems.

Very soon we will begin producing our payroll in-house and using the new system, new forms, and new procedures. We are currently offering training and information sessions to the Brandeis University community. These will continue into the early summer. In addition, we are distributing a series of project bulletins throughout the campus describing the changes in more detail.

What's new
Two major parts of the implementation are web-based time collection and position management. Time collection is the process of entering into the system the hours that hourly employees work every pay period, as well as their paid time off, sick, vacation, or personal time. The new system allows authorized time administrators to enter this over the web. In the future, the system will also allow entering paid time off for salaried employees.

Position management enables us to do three things:

To monitor the workforce by position rather than by person,

To track accounting for each position--that is, track which department will be paying for the position, and

To help with budget planning for all positions.

What are all the training and information sessions for?
There are three types of sessions for the community:

Brown-bag lunches - informal sessions where members of the community can ask questions of the HR/Payroll Steering Committee.

Forms training sessions - meetings designed to show everyone the new Human Resources and Payroll forms and how to use them.

Time administrator sessions - several sessions for individuals named as time administrators--staff members who enter data into the time collection system.

Bulletins
We are producing a series of informational bulletins to help communicate changes that will take place as we move to the new system. These bulletins are designed to summarize what is currently being done, what the changes will be, and why the changes are being made.

These bulletins are also available here on this site.
