Block Scheduling Committee

Charge of the Block Scheduling Committee
Provost Marty Krauss
March 11, 2008

The committee is charged with examining and elucidating the principles and practices surrounding the scheduling of courses at the university with the goal of assessing whether changes to the block system could result in improvements. The committee should review and analyze the current rules the university imposes (through the registrar’s office), departmental scheduling practices, the needs of students and faculty and the physical constraints of having a finite number of classrooms. The committee will solicit the views of students, faculty and staff, and will also examine scheduling practices at other institutions. The committee is to present the provost with a summary of current practice, along with recommendations as to what changes (if any) are desirable. The committee will complete its work by the end of the fall 2008 semester.
