Emeriti Faculty Activities

Task Force on Senior and Emeriti Faculty

The Task Force on Senior and Emeriti faculty  was appointed in December of 2013. The Task Force was charged with researching best practices at other institutions, as well as gathering information from Brandeis departments and from current emeriti faculty in order to understand how to best support emeriti faculty. In 2014 the task force published a report of the aforementioned recommendations, which can be found here.  The report was also presented to the Faculty Senate and to the University Advisor Council.  The Office of the Provost is actively working on implementing recommendations from the report.

Society for Emeriti Faculty

One of the primary recommendations from the report was the establishment of a Society of Emeriti faculty.  In April 2015, all emeriti faculty were invited to join this society.  The society will develop a governance structure and developing activities for members.  Beginning in Fall 2015, the Society will select in partnership with the Provost an emeritus faculty member to serve on the University Advisory Committee.  In this way, emeriti faculty will be able to provide important contributions to the shared governance of the university.

Annual Emeriti Luncheon

Annually, Emeritus faculty members are invited to a luncheon at which past and present Emeritus members are honored and commemorated.
