Interpreting Your Score

Italian 10

  • Self-placement test score: 0-5
  • No previous study of Italian
  • Two years of Italian before the junior year
  • Two-three years of Italian with an average grade of B or lower in Italian
  • College Board Italian Achievement Test score: below 40

Italian 20

  • Self-placement test score: 6-11
  • Two-three years of high school Italian, including junior and senior years
  • College Board Italian Achievement Test score: below 40-55

Italian 30

  • Self-placement test score: 12 or higher
  • Four years of high school Italian, A or A- average
  • College Board Italian Achievement Test score: below 55-61

Exemption from language requirement, eligibility for upper-level Italian courses

  • College Board Italian Achievement Test score: 62 or higher
  • AP score: 4 or 5
