Topics in the Humanities
[ hum ] Topic for fall 2008: Self.net This course will consider the relation between network technology and subjectivity, using the network as a metaphor to think about distributed identity and cognition. Readings will include a broad range of philosophical works, literary texts, electronic literature, and new media art. While the emphasis will be on network technologies of the digital age, we will also make connections to print culture and the history of the book, as well as to earlier technologies and touchstones of the Western canon. |
