Frequently Asked Questions about B.U.G.S.
What is group study?
Group study sessions are led by students who have already taken the class and who are recommended by faculty members to guide sessions. Knowledgeable and non-judgemental, they will help you prepare for exams, tackle an assignment, review difficult material and answer any questions you might have. All sessions meet weekly and are free of charge. There is no need to make an appointment or sign up. You can simply show up at any point during the designated times.
How do I find a study session?
Group Study sessions are all located in the Academic Services office on the second floor of
Usdan Student Center in room 130.
Are sessions held on holidays?
Sessions begin during the third week of classes and continue through the study day before the final exam period. They are not held on University breaks or holidays or eveninga before breaks begin. Our sessions follow the Brandeis schedule (i.e. on a Brandeis Thursday, Thursday sessions will be held). Check our
schedule for times and locations.
What is a session like?
Study sessions are a chance for you to get your questions answered by a supportive peer who has excelled in the subject matter. You may work one-on-one with your tutor, or in a small group. You may stay for all or part of a session, and choose to work on a particular assignment or on understanding broader concepts.
How can I prepare for study sessions?
Whenever possible, go over the material you want to cover before you come to tutoring. Try to figure out what would be most helpful to you, and write down your questions and bring them to the session. Bring your notebook, textbook, any study guides, and other relevant material.
