Babysitter in Waltham

Dec. 05, 2012

Jessica Hawks

Our family is seeking an experienced babysitter to care for our 8-month-old daughter for 15-20 hours per week in our home, beginning in early January. We require a minimum commitment of January through May with the option to stay on through August. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and education. This is an excellent part-time job for an undergraduate or graduate student!

Skills and Duties:

I work part-time as a freelancer, sometimes from home. Due to the nature of my work, we have some flexibility in scheduling the 15-20 hours. We ideally need someone to care for our daughter two days per week (Monday through Friday) sometime between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. We can work with you to set a schedule that fits your needs as long as you can commit to that schedule for the entire semester. (Summer hours, if you would like them, can be on a different schedule, to be agreed upon when summer is closer.) There is also the option to add hours through occasional evenings if you would like.

We are in a quiet family neighborhood at the Waltham/Weston line right next Brandeis. We are located just off of the I-95 Route 20 exit, Very easily accessible from 95, 90, 2 and Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge. We are also on the MBTA 70 bus line.

Our daughter is a healthy, joyful and active baby. She loves music, movement, books and lots of “conversation”. We are seeking someone who will enjoy her and be engaged with her throughout the day.

Responsibilities: feeding (breast milk and solids), bathing, putting her down for morning and afternoon naps, playing, reading and taking her for walks in the stroller when the weather allows. No household work is required.

Qualifications: you are experienced with infants, knowledgeable about early childhood development and have excellent judgment. You are a clear and open communicator, reliable, punctual, warm and engaging. You must be trained in infant CPR and first aid. If you are not, but are a good fit otherwise, we will pay for you to attend the class. Your references must include work with infants. Documentation of pertussis (Tdap) booster, flu vaccine and full Hepatitis B vaccine series is absolutely required.

If you are allergic to cats please note that we have one cat (hardwood floors and good air filters help!).

Wage Rate:
