Junior Congregation Leader At Temple Reyim
Aug. 14, 2013
Temple Reyim, a 200-family Conservative congregation in Newton, is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable leader for Shabbat morning youth services. Our services are held from10:30 AM to noon every Saturday, for ages 7-13 (younger children attend a separate “mini-minyan” service). Junior Congregation services include a wide range of prayers and singing, combined with a discussion of the weekly parsha or another topic of interest and perhaps a humorous “parsha play”. Services generally draw a small group of five to eight children, though there is potential for more. After services, there is a full kiddush with the whole congregation.
Skills and Duties:
You will have an opportunity for guidance and mentorship by our wonderful rabbi, as well as the freedom to be creative in putting your own ruach and creativity into the service.
Services are held weekly. We are happy to have a single leader, but are also open to splitting the leadership role between two people, each of whom would lead every other week.
The ideal leader will be experienced with elementary and middle school aged kids, with a solid knowledge of prayer and Judaism, perhaps including a background in Jewish camping or education. College and graduate students are welcome to apply.
Temple Reyim is easily accessible from the MBTA green line.
Interested candidates should email HR@reyim.org, with a resume and any other information about your relevant experience. Please also let us know whether you’d prefer to lead every week or every other week.
10:30am-12:00pm, Saturdays, plus prep time
