Seminar on Creating and Maintaining Jewish Families
March 25-26, 2007, Brandeis University, Waltham MA
Recent studies indicate that men and women think, act, and react very differently to life situations that touch on connections to Jews and Judaism. This seminar was a first step in launching a systematic study of the intersection of religion and gender. Presentations by cutting-edge researchers looked at the behavior and attitudes of Jewish singles as well as inmarried, intermarried, and conversionary households and families in the United States, Israel, and other Jewish communities.
All in the Family: Shared Values and the American Jewish Future
October 29, 2006, Brandeis University, Waltham MA
Conversations on the American Jewish future often focus on the issues that alienate American Jews from each other. This discussion brought together American Jewish leaders from a broad spectrum of religious movements, education, and the Jewish communal world in open dialogue, inviting participants to look at the ways in which boundaries between differing groups of Jews today are far more fluid than many people realize. Focusing on the future of the American Jewish community and its challenges, the following extraordinary leaders suggested ways in which American Jews can work together to create positive strategies for change.
