Student Profile

Johnny

Name: Johnny Wilson ‘13
Major: HSSP & WMGS

Involvement on campus: On/off campus DJ and Campus Center Team Supervisor.

What is your favorite part of working with the Campus Center Team? My favorite part about working for Student Activities is being able to help people. Working as a campus center team supervisor, I am the main person people turn to when there is an issue with anything within the building. It can be as simple as, showing someone where the bathroom is or setting up an event catering to over 80 people. Being able to interact with students throughout my shift is something I look forward to.

How has this involvement impacted your time at Brandeis? This involvement has impacted by time here at Brandeis by showing students that I am a leader on campus. We are known as the people in the orange shirts and even friends come to us for all types of information. We have training at the same time as OLs, CAs and Roosevelt Fellows which illustrates that we have a huge impact on campus life.

Do you have a favorite memory of your time with Student Activities or at Brandeis? I have so many great memories working with the Campus Center Team but my best memories would have to be during our end of the year parties. We all can come together as a group and have fun without worries about working and school. The photos, conversations and gifts that are given during these parties are memories that I will keep with me forever.

The Campus Center Team functions as the operating staff of the Shapiro Campus Center and parts of the Usdan Student Center. The students are easily recognized by their bright red or orange uniforms and huge smiles. Along with providing customer service and information to thousands of visitors a year, the team also helps to support logistical and technical aspects of events in the Shapiro Campus Center.

What Services are Provided?

At the Info Booth, students can borrow dry erase markers for the conference and study rooms (as available), pick up campus and MBTA maps, pick up and return departmental forms, reserve a Deis Bike during the season, gain access to locked conference rooms, and gain answers to general questions.  In addition, clubs can borrow equipment reserved through the Department of Student Activities.

When I Can Find the Team?

The Info Booth is staffed from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

What Else Do They Do?

Each supervisor on the team has an additional responsibility in addition to their daily task. Such responsibilities include programming, liaison for clubs and commuters, and the management of the Game Room. Check back for updates of projects they are working on that will impact you, the students!
