Cholmondeley's Coffee House

Cholmondeley's (Chum's) is Brandeis' coffeehouse and late-night snack bar, tucked away in the historic Castle and named for a bloodhound belonging to the campus photographer. Throughout its history, it has played host to, among others, Tracy Chapman, the J. Geils Band, Joan Baez and the first American performance of Genesis.

Chums, as it is affectionately called, is also the site of many student organized coffee houses. Monday through Wednesday, the space is usually booked by clubs and organizations for a variety of coffee houses ranging from concerts and a capella performances to improve shows. Booking of Chums takes place one semester at a time through a lottery held at the beginning of each semester by the events manager of Chums. There is a $50 coffee house fee and clubs/organizations are required to pay an hourly rate for events outside of regular operating hours.
