Shapiro Campus Center
The Shapiro Campus Center opened in 2002, thanks to a generous contribution from Carl and Ruth Shapiro. The center houses the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Student Life suite, the budget office for the Division of Students and Enrollment and the departments of Student Activities, Community Service, Student Development and Conduct and Orientation and First-Year Programs.
The campus center includes a 6,500-square-foot, three-story atrium and houses a bookstore, a 249-seat student theater, a café, a two-story computer library, study rooms, a commuter student lounge, meeting rooms and a student art gallery.

The campus center was designed by the award-winning firm Thompson and Rose in Cambridge, and is thought to be the “living room of the campus.” Several student groups have their offices in the campus center. They include the Student Union, Waltham Group, Women’s Resource Center, Triskelion, Student Sexuality Information Services, Peer Help Organizations, Brandeis Media Coalition, Photo Club (darkroom), Students for Environmental Action, Student Events, The Archon, The Justice, BTV and WBRS 100.1 FM.
The center is accessible by ID card 24 hours a day during the academic year. The operations specialist in Student Activities handles the day-to-day operation of the building, including room reservations, reset crew and club access rights. Custodial services are provided through Facilities Services. Aramark operates the Einstein Bros. café and Barnes & Noble operates the bookstore.
