English Language Learning Initative(ELL)-Brandeis University English Language Learning Initiative was founded in the Spring of 2001, to tutor Brandeis dining hall employees in English. Now tutoring services has expanded to include all interested Brandeis employees. Students who tutor need not have any background in teaching English, nor do they need to speak another language. All tutors need is a willingness to help people in their own community, and patience when communicating. Learners come from a variety of backgrounds, languages and levels of English making each tutoring session different.
Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC)- The purpose of FIMRC-Brandeis University is to raise money for FIMRC's international fundraising efforts, perform community service projects each year, serve the school community as an informational resource in areas such as international relief, and children's aid, and personally benefit students academically as well as through giving them opportunities to learn about fundraising, participate in community service projects, and travel to help with relief efforts first hand.
National Collegiate Volunteers- National Collegiate Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded by students at Tufts and Brandeis Universities. Our goal is to support a creative approach to community development in the United States by using the skills and energy of college students to conduct socially significant volunteer projects. While student interest in active citizenship has grown tremendously in the last decade, many service programs fail to harness students' strongest skills. By harnessing those skills and directing them to where they are needed most, National Collegiate Volunteers is building a new, more effective model for student service.
