Truth, Reconciliation, and the Ku Klux Klan: Confronting Racial Violence
in America"
November 5th at 8pm
At More than Words
A century ago, W.E.B. DuBois famously proclaimed that "the problem of the
twentieth century is the problem of the color-line." In many communities,
this problem endures, in part through memories of past racial violence
that continue to cloud relationships, limit opportunities, and preclude
productive dialogue. Encouragingly, a number of recent initiatives
address these painful legacies in new and creative ways. Come hear
Brandeis Sociology Professor David Cunningham draw on his research on the
KKK and other agents of racial terror to assess a range of community-based
efforts seeking truth, justice, and reconciliation in the face of
difficult pasts.
