Carl and Ruth Shapiro Campus Center
The Campus Center serves as a vibrant center for student life at Brandeis. The building includes rehearsal spaces, the University Bookstore, Einstein Bros., a two-floor computer library, student organization spaces, function rooms, lounges and is accessible 24 hours a day. The 249-seat Theater and associated spaces will accommodate productions by the Undergraduate Theater Collective.
The Campus Center also incorporates a second, performance space (a large multi-purpose room), to accommodate a broad range of lectures, films, dance rehearsals and other activities. The bookstore provides an expanded selection of books and products, while the café creates a focal point for student interaction. The computer clusters house UNET computer support services, and two study rooms are tailored to both group discussion and individual study. The atrium is a three-story space that accommodates lectures, dances, displays of art and a place for the community and visitors to meet and mingle.
The third floor Art Gallery is dedicated to student
exhibits during the academic year.
Student Events, the Student Union government, WBRS the campus radio station, BTV, the television station, and the offices of Student Activities, Student Development and Conduct, and the Office of the Dean of Student Life call the Campus Center home, enhancing the building's student-oriented focus.
The Carl and Ruth Campus Center embodies the continued central position of the student at Brandeis. It is a symbolic, student-oriented building at the center of campus, vibrant with activity, complementing established student services in Usdan and Kutz.
