Living in Sri Lanka: A Sorenson Fellow Reflects on "Anil's Ghost"

Drawing on her years living in Sri Lanka (2003-4) working for a Sri Lankan law firm, one of the original Sorensen Fellows, Ariele Cohen '99, reflects on the themes and issues of the book "Anil's Ghost" by Michael Ondaatje over a light breakfast. More info on Ariele's residency

The Farmers Club is hosting a farmers market that will feature products from local vendors such as tea, bread, baked sweet treats, and other great goodies. The market will also feature fresh produce straight from the rooftop farm here at Brandeis on the top of the Gerstenzang Science Complex. It is definitely an event not to miss with great food and awesome performances by your favorite Brandeis a capella groups!

Sign up to meet Ariele Cohen ’99, a financial lawyer with AIG in NYC who advises “Wall Street's elite” and does pro bono work with the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project and special education litigation in the U.S. Ariele will answer your questions and offer advice based on her experience. This is the first Fall Fest Undergraduate Science Research Poster Session. Students will present posters on their scientific research and be available to answer questions about their work.

Come join us, faculty and staff, at this campus-wide welcoming event! You will get to meet our two mascots: the Judge and Ollie the Owl. Take this opportunity to take pictures and mingle with other families! Food and light refreshments would be provided.

Brandeis Goes Blue!
Off Campus Trip:  Boston featuring the Blue Man Group

Looking to enjoy a little Broadway in Boston? Travel with us into the city to enjoy the smash hit show Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse! This award-winning show combines comedy, music, and technology to create a night that appeals to people of all ages! The Blue Man Group is an innovative and energetic show has been well renowned for keeping crowds wildly entertained and astounded. Come and see what the global hype is all about this fall!  

The bus leaves campus at 4 p.m. and should arrive in Boston before 5 p.m. When we arrive, families can choose what they want to do before the show. We recommend finding local dining as food is not served at the show. The doors open at 7 p.m. and show begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Playhouse in Boston's Theatre District.

Purchase tickets at Brandeis Tickets: $80/person.  Pre-ordered tickets may be picked-up when you check-in at the Fall Fest registration table in the Shapiro Campus Center.

Dinner tickets are required for all family members, including children over 12, and can be purchased through Brandeis Tickets. 
Regular: $36; children 12 and under: $18. For children 12 and under, please call Brandeis Tickets at 781-736-3400. All pre-ordered tickets may be picked-up when you check-in at the Fall Fest registration table in the Shapiro Campus Center.

Current Brandeis students can reserve and pay for their Friday meal using their meal plan at  (All Saturday meal reservations - for Family Members and Brandeis Students - must be made via the online Shabbat meals form or at the Cashier in Sherman Dining Hall.)

Hillel's Oneg Shabbat Program (beginning at approximately 8:45) is free and open to all members of the Brandeis Family!

Come see HTP's As You Like It! Set in modern-day Boston, this comedy has it all: Romance! Betrayal! Exploration of gender expression! After her uncle forcefully takes over the family business, Rosalind escapes to Western Mass disguised as a man. Can she test Orlando's love for her and reunite with her father?

Comedy Show featuring Hari Kondabolu

Come see Hari Kondabolu perform live at Brandeis! Hari is a Brooklyn-based, Queens-raised comic who has appeared on late night talk shows such as the Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He had his own television special air on Comedy Central and has performed at HBO’s Comedy Festival. The New York Times has called Hari “one of the most exciting political comics in Stand-up today” and he is bringing his talents to Brandeis.
