Involvement on campus: SPS coordinator, BITMAP Hackathon Lead
How long have you worked with the Department of Student Activities? "I'm beginning my third year working with Student Activities and SPS, and my first year as SPS coordinator."
What is your favorite part of your role? "My favorite part of my role is getting to contribute to campus life in such a useful way - because SPS is free to student clubs, we’re able to facilitate a bunch of very diverse events over the whole year, and I feel that contribution really adds to the universal Brandeisian experience."
How has this involvement impacted your time at Brandeis? "Because SPS works a lot of the same events each year (Adagio shows, Midnight Buffet, Liquid Latex), I then get to actively participate in a lot of campus hallmarks and traditions, which makes me feel more connected to the school and its culture."
What made you get involved? "I’ve been involved in technical theater since the 10th grade, with a focus in lighting and sound. When I got to college, I knew the time commitment of technical theater was going to be too much for me, so SPS seemed like a way to stay involved in tech while also have a balanced academic and social life."
Do you have a favorite memory of your time with Student Activities or at Brandeis? "I don’t have one specific memory, but sometimes there are weekends where SPS gets massively scheduled - there have been some occasions where we’ve had 8 or 9 events just over one 3-day period. But no matter how hectic it gets, everyone on the SPS team will pull through to make everything run as smoothly as possible. It really speaks to how much everyone cares about producing good work, and I love being on a team that has such cooperative and talented members."
