Employee Housing

Summer housing for on-campus student employees is available from Sunday, June 4, to Friday, Aug. 11, 2023. Student employees will be housed in the Foster Mods.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must meet certain eligibility requirements to receive on-campus housing as a student employee.
  • Full-time undergraduate student at Brandeis for the Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 semesters. Students graduating in Spring 2023 are only eligible for summer housing on a case-by-case basis. Graduating students must depart by Friday, July 7, 2023. Students who are not working for a Brandeis department do NOT qualify for the reduced summer employee rate, but can apply for summer housing and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The default rate for Summer Housing is $275 per week, regardless of the assignment location or room type.
  • Be employed by a Brandeis department at least part time. Only students working on campus can receive on-campus summer employee housing in Foster Mods.
  • Receive permission from your employer to live on campus for the summer. Students should confirm summer employment with a supervisor before completing the summer student employee housing application, as not all departments can support students living on campus. Note: You should not expect your department to pay all or a portion of your housing fees; please discuss with your supervisor before committing to a space on campus for the summer.
  • Students taking part in a JBS program or taking summer classes are not eligible for student employee housing, but they are eligible for summer school housing in Skyline. Special exemptions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Employee Housing Summer Rates*

The summer housing rate for student employees is $175/week — a $100/week discount. There is no pro-rating if a student withdraws from housing midweek; they will still need to pay for the entire week.
*The cost of housing for summer session is a flat rate of $275/week if you are not sponsored by a Brandeis department.

Employee Summer Housing Process

Obtaining summer housing is a fairly simple process. Below are the steps that students, faculty and staff must take to receive summer housing.

Step 1: Apply

Complete the Summer Housing Application in MyHousing. Forms must be submitted by May 15, 2023, for priority housing.

Step 2: Department Follow-up

Following completion of the application, an email will be sent to your department's administrator containing the information submitted on the application. The administrator must then verify with Community Living that you are employed by the department to receive on-campus housing.

Step 3: Housing Payment

All students in summer employee housing will be charged directly to their student accounts.

Step 4: Transitional Housing, Part I

If you wish to live on campus between the end of final exams and the beginning of the summer, you must complete the Transitional Housing Request form. Transitional housing costs a flat rate of $300. Your student account will be billed directly for transitional housing. See Transitional Housing for more information.

Step 5: Move-In

Students will be notified of their summer residence by May 22, 2023. Keys for summer housing will be available to pick up Sunday, June 4, 2023, from the Community Living in Usdan. You will be notified if keys are available earlier than June 4.

Step 6: Transitional Housing, Part II

At the end of the summer, you will have the option again to request transitional housing. If you did not request Summer-to-Fall housing originally, a new Transitional Housing Request must be completed. The cost of transitional housing for this period is $500. See Transitional Housing for more information.
