About Brandeis
Brandeis is the youngest private research university in the United States and the only nonsectarian college or university in the nation sponsored by the American Jewish community. Its challenging academic programs and internationally-recognized faculty stimulate intellectual development in an open atmosphere. Founded in 1948 and named for the late Louis Dembitz Brandeis, the distinguished associate justice of the United States Supreme Court, Brandeis has grown to assume a leadership role in American higher education. Brandeis today offers both the superb facilities and acclaimed researchers found at large universities and the dedication to teaching usually associated with a small college. Drawn from the academic-year curriculum, most Summer School courses are taught by regular Brandeis faculty and offered during two five-week sessions.
