A Typical Day at the Unaccompanied Bach Workshop for Violinists
Each morning of the workshop students will enjoy individually supervised private coaching sessions. These sessions are supervised by an instructor who has specialized in Baroque music using both modern and period instruments. While some students are in private coaching sessions, other students will be involved in private or small group rehearsals
Whenever possible, the group will gather together for lunch to share stories, experiences, and techniques. In the afternoon, students in the workshop will have daily master classes, demonstrations and lectures that will help students learn proper techniques, chord playing options, non-traditional fingerings and breathing and relaxation exercises. Other activities, such as a guided tour of the private musical instrument collection at the The week culminates in two class concerts where students may invite family and friends to enjoy a selection of music that showcases the progress of the class.
Admission to the ProgramIndividuals and pre-formed groups may apply. A live or recorded audition is suggested for new participants. The application form is required of both new and returning participants. Auditions, which are open to strings, pianists and winds, should be composed of two works of contrasting style. Recorded auditions should be on CD, cassette or videotape. The application deadline is April 21, 2006.
