HIST 123a - The Renaissance

Summer Session I: June 3 to July 5, 2013
This course will explore the cultural and intellectual developments, the social organizations, and the political, and economic systems of the Renaissance from roughly the fourteenth through the sixteenth centuries. Particular attention will be paid to the experience of the Italian city-states, especially Florence, but the course will also explore the emergence, course, and consequences of "renaissance" beyond Italy as well.
