Course Cancellation and Schedule Changes

Summer School is a self-supporting program, so courses must meet a minimum enrollment to be given.

Students are encouraged to register at their earliest convenience, and no later than May 25, 2018 for Session I and June 29, 2018 for Session II, so that enrollment levels can be ascertained before classes begin. Students who have enrolled in courses that are canceled due to low enrollment may enroll in another course or receive a full tuition and fee adjustment.

Decisions regarding course cancellation are made just prior to the date a class is slated to begin.  This permits us to drop enrollments for students whose tuition is unpaid after the enrollment deadline and accurately assess whether there are sufficient enrollments to mount the course.  Instructors are informed first about cancellation and then students will be contacted via their Brandeis email address.  The enrollment minimum depends upon the rank of the instructor and any additional expenses that need to be funded from tuition.

The University reserves the right to substitute instructors, rearrange the order of lectures or change other program details when necessary.

All refunds have to be initiated by the student or their proxy via SAGE.  As you can imagine, for many Brandeis student, leaving a credit on the account to reduce the next semester's billing charges is the most frequently used option. Of course, that won't work for everyone so here's an overview of the refund process from the Student Financial Services website: http://www.brandeis.edu/student-financial-services/student-accounts/refund.html.
