Welcome
At Brandeis University, students, faculty and staff all work together to create a place where people are appreciated and valued for their individual talents and abilities. Part of our goal of educational diversity and equality is to enable all students to enjoy the fullest possible participation in all aspects of campus life. As a community we work to create and maintain an accesible physical environment, to provide educational resources that support the independence of all students, and to ensure that students have the opportunity to enjoy a rich and diverse campus life.

Commitment to Support for Students with Disabilities
Brandeis University is committed to creating a diverse community that includes students with documented disabilities - including mobility, visual, hearing, medical, psychological or learning disabilities. Below you will find information about the kinds of accomodations and support that are available at brandeis and how to provide documentation in support of a request for accomodations. You can also contact us for more specific information; we are happy to address individual questions and concerns.
While Brandeis offers no specific academic programs for individuals with disabilities, the university is committed to providing support and accommodations to all students who have need and are legally entitled to them. At the same time, the University encourages all students to take responsibility for their own academic career, to learn about themselves and their peers, and to appreciate and explore their considerable abilities. The fundamental goal of services and support for students with disabilities is to empower those students and to create opportunities for greater independence and self-advocacy.
Our Philosophy
Beth Rodgers-Kay and the Office of Academic Services can best assist you in the context of a partnership based on mutual responsibility and clear communication. Students are expected to maintain ongoing communication with Beth Rodgers-Kay, with Faculty and with other staff on campus regarding their need for accommodations and special services. Staff and faculty can be expected to work with students to implement accommodations and to make every effort to find solutions to problems, but can best do so if they are made aware of a student's needs (and of any difficulties) in a timely manner.
