Welcome to UNet!

The Brandeis University Network (UNet) allows computers equipped with an Ethernet connection to connect to a high-speed (10 Mb/s) network, giving access to both on-campus and off-campus resources, including E-mail and the Internet.

UNet underwent a significant upgrade during the Summer of 1998, installing at least one phone and one Ethernet port per person throughout the undergraduate residence halls. In addition to the network upgrade, new servers were installed to provide increased E-mail speed and reliability and allow for expansion.

A Technology Coordinator for Student Support was also hired during the summer of 1998, in order to overhaul undergraduate student services.

Services now provided include installation of Ethernet cards and assistance connecting your computer to the network, a dedicated Student Help Desk (1-781-529-UNET) open 92 hours per week, and ongoing on-site software support. Short workshops on various topics from "Introduction to Computing" to "How to Create a Resume in Microsoft Word" are also planned for the 1999-2000 academic year.

A CD has been provided for all undergraduate students to ease the process of connecting to UNet. For instructions, please read the 24 page CD booklet (included in the CD case), or the HTML documentation on the CD or on this Website.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the Student Help Desk at 781-529-UNET.
