1999 UNet Updates

Phil Reboot

The Central VMSCluster (binah, din, and logos) is currently down due to a disk failure, and may stay down for the rest of the afternoon. Email to cluster users will be queued on the UNet systems until the cluster is back up.

Phil, the file server that handles AppleTalk and Windows file mounting services to undergrads, will be rebooting at exactly 3pm to allow it to take over name service for din and logos (we had a second Ethernet card in the machine, but I can't load IP aliasing because I locked the kernel with securelevel).

If you have a Macintosh connected to the "Undergrad Home Directories" server in the UNet AppleTalk zone, or if you have a Windows machine connected to \\UNDERGRAD in the UNET workgroup, please close all open files before 3pm. If you have files open when the server reboots, they could become corrupted.

sam, diane, mail, and all other undergrad services are totally unaffected by this. It's only the Mac/PC file server that will be rebooting, and that will only be for a minute.
