Companions to Elders
Companions to Elders matches volunteers and elderly citizens within the Waltham community. Volunteers visit their companions weekly in assisted living facilities throughout Waltham. The program also has at least two group gatherings per semester at two nearby retirement communities. The program also volunteers monthly at Memory Cafes, group gatherings for people who are affected by memory loss and their families, friends, and caregivers.
Population Served: Waltham's elderly community
Community Partners: Leland Home, Marist Hill and Jewish Family and Children Services in Waltham
Transportation: Coordinators provide transportation for volunteers to the assisted living homes using Waltham Group vans.
How to Participate:

Volunteer Time Commitment: Volunteers can choose to volunteer weekly for about an hour and a half, or they can choose to sign up for a Memory Cafe each month. Choosing to do both is an option as well.
